This is a near complete overview of all the concerts I've been to, since I haven't kept the tickets from all the concerts I may have missed a couple. I've only included the big names here, of course I also went to a lot of performances in local bars and festivals.

      Herman Brood & His Wild Romance, De Boerderij, Zoetermeer
      Herman Brood didn't give much of a show, really. He looked in bad shape, hardly moved on stage and mumbled some funny remarks. But once started this band knew how to play rock 'n' roll and they kept on giving encores. Like so many bands live they were just a bit better than on their records.

      I really went to Rock Werchter to see the Pixies but it was Iggy Pop's performance that blew me away. What an energy on the stage! I knew who he was of course but didn't know The Stooges records yet.

1990. Alex Chilton, Paard van Troje, The Hague
      Back when the Paard van Troje was still a cellar, Alex Chilton came 'round. Some people knew who he was, others had heard of his reputation and wondered if this was really such a legend. Alex certainly didn't want to show off or act like a star. He was relaxed, funny and just played the music he likes (including "Volare"). His band was very good and the songs, mainly from "High Priest" and "Black List" mixed well with the Big Star songs (5 or so, a real treat, among them "September Gurls", "She's A Mover" and "In The Street"). Other highlights included his singles "Bangkok", "Can't Seem To Make You Mine" and "No Sex".
      



1989. Lou Reed, Carré, Amsterdam
      "New York" was a Lou Reed's big comeback, his best and most succesful album in years. The performance was impressive with a complete "New York" set first and after the break the classics (with Rock 'n' Roll as one of the highlights).

1987. Bad Company, Deep Purple, Ahoy, Rotterdam
      My first major concert! Although "The House of Blue Light" was a pretty good album, by this time the 80's reunion of the famous Deep Purple Mark II line-up was starting to fall apart. Blackmore and Gillan were hardly on speaking terms and Blackmore's performance was uninspired or perhaps he was just annoyed. It's kind of cool though to wait 'till the last solo part of Child In Time and then play it as fast as ever. Fortunately, Gillan was in fine voice and Lord filled in the gaps left by Blackmore.
